If you have a fireplace, you should have glass doors. Why?

• An fireplace without glass doors is not very economical. Most of the warm air is going right up the chimney without them. Doors save you money by minimizing air loss.
  
• For safety reasons, they are a MUST when you have small children and pets in your home. They also keep any sparks and debris from popping out onto your floors or furniture.
  
• Styles and color choices are abundant. Your fireplace is usually the focal point of any room. Dress it up!

Before choosing your glass doors, you must know if your fireplace is a masonry (brick or stone) or a factory-built fireplace. A masonry fireplace always requires a chimney of brick or stone and there would be no metal around/inside the fireplace. If your outside chimney is faced with the same material as your house, you have a factory-built fireplace.
